Wife Of Indian Student Attacked In Chicago Requests For Help: All Details

An Indian student hailing from Hyderabad, named Syed Mazahir Ali was chased and attacked brutally in Chicago, US. The video of the attack has surfaced on social media where Ali can be seen profusely bleeding.

There have been several concerning reports of attacks on Indian students in the US recently, including the brutal attack on Syed Mazahir Ali in Chicago on February 4. The videos of the attack have now surfaced on the Internet in one of which Ali can be seen chased by three men while in another video Ali is seen profusely bleeding from his head and mouth while narrating his ordeal.

Ali, a resident of Hyderabad, Telangana, pursuing a Master's in IT from Indiana Wesley University in Chicago, was chased, robbed, and attacked on the streets all caught on the CCTV camera on Tuesday. While the Indian consulate in Chicago assures all possible assistance, the family in India raises concerns as his wife requests the Indian government to let her visit her husband.

Chicago: Yet Another Indian Student Attacked In US; Bleeds After Attack:

Amidst the concerns of rising violence among Indian students in the US after the deaths of four Indian students in the US already this year so far, yet another disturbing case of an Indian student being attacked has come to light as several videos of the attack surfaced viral. 

According to a report from the Chicago Police Department, an Indian student was attacked in Chicago on February 4. The student was reportedly walking down the street when he was approached by three individuals who began to harass him. The student attempted to run away, but he was caught, beaten, and robbed.

Ali who was profusely bleeding was rushed to the local hospital to treat several cuts and injuries he sustained from the attack while reports state the victim of the attack was still in mental shock and was not able to even talk to his wife on call in India.

What Happened?

In a video, Ali can be seen bleeding profusely narrating his ordeal right after the attack and heard saying "Please help me, bro, please help" and narrating how few blocks away from his home in Campbell Ave in Chicago, bringing some food back home he noticed three men chasing him, as he ran from them trying to reach for safety, he slipped right in front of his house when he was beaten and his mobile phone was robbed off from him. 

A CCTV video from the neighbours also caught the incident where a black sedan was seen making rounds on the street before parking near the walkway Ali was walking at 1 am when suddenly three men got out of the car and were seen chasing Ali as he ran while one was sitting at the wheel of the car. 

Ali also reported his ordeal saying he got punches and kicks on his face, ribs, and back and can be seen facing difficulty walking.

His wife Syeda Ruquliya Fatima Rizvi has written a letter to Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar ensuring Ali gets proper treatments and requesting the Minister to make some possible arrangements to let her and her three children fly to the US to stay with her husband in Chicago as she expresses her concerns for her husband.

Indian Students In US:

The attack on him comes in the wake of four Indian-origin students being found dead in the United States this year.

Last week, 19-year-old Shreyas Reddy Beniger was found dead under unknown circumstances and authorities have ruled out the possibility of any foul play in the case while Reddy also held an American passport. Earlier this week, another student named Neel Acharya was found dead hours after her mother filed a missing report on the campus of Purdue University. 

On January 16, a 25-year-old student from Haryana named Vivek Saini was hammered to death by a homeless man in Georgia's Lithonia. Another Indian student named Akul Shawan was found dead yet again on the University campus of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in January.
