It’s official: India is going to compete for the prestigious ‘Palme d’Or’ at Cannes Film Festival 2022. This year, India was announced as the official ‘country of honour’ at the Marche’ Du Films also called Cannes Film Market, which is held on the sidelines of the festival. With this move, many Indian celebs will be seen walking the red carpet of Cannes 2022 for the first time ever.

India will be the guest of honour at the Cannes International Film Festival 2019 which is held in France. The 75th edition of the film festival will start on 17 May and will continue till 28 May. This is for the first time that the festival has got such an honour where many Indian celebs will be seen strutting down the red carpet.

The Cannes Film Festival officially called the “Festival de Cannes”, is an annual film festival held in Cannes, France, which previews new films of all genres including documentaries, animated films, and shorts. It was founded in 1946 and since then has been held annually.

Indian Celebs At 75th Cannes Film Festival

India is all set to represent its pride. Deepika Padukone has attended Cannes Film Festival since 2017 and has given us some memorable red carpet looks over the years. From an electric blue gown at the Opening Ceremony in 2017 to a massive butterfly-inspired gown from Marchesa in 2018, she never fails to impress us with her personality-filled ensembles.

Padukone is also going to be part of Cannes jury as it was announced in early May. The actor will represent the country at the international platform and for that she has been receiving much praise. Padukone is also famous of style sense and her general public appearances so her fans also eager to know what outfits she would wear.

She walked the red carpet there dressed in a black and gold saree, which is designed by Sabyasachi. Hair tied in a bun and accessorised with a golden hairband, the actor opted for a dramatic look with kohl eyes, nude lipstick and contoured cheeks. She is part of the nine-member jury which will be picking winners for this year’s Palme d’Or honours at the ceremony on May 28. The other jury members include Joachim Trier, Jeff Nichols, Rebecca Hall, Noomi Repacem Jasmine Trinca, Asghar Farhadi and Ladj Ly.

For years, she had represented make-up company L’Oreal at the film festival. She had previously worn Prabal Gurung, Marchesa, Peter Dundas, Giambattista Valli and Ashi Studio.

Another great thing about Cannes this year is that actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be making her 20th appearance at the film festival this year. She was spotted at the Mumbai airport with her daughter and her husband leaving for Cannes. Aishwarya Rai has made many heads turn with her looks at the Cannes red carpet. She used to be the only Indian actor posing at the red carpet for many years.

Actor R Madhavan, who is producing the movie will walk on the red carpet of the premiere.

Tamannaah Bhatia

After a gap of six years, India is returning to Cannes with a slate of five films at the Cannes Film Festival 2022. Popular Bahubali fame actor Tamannaah Bhatia makes her debut in Cannes this year. Apart from these celebs, Nayanthara, CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi and music composer Ricky Rej will also be gracing the event with their presence.
