2016 turned out to be a great year for sportswomen. The year is ending on a great note as India clinched Bronze by defeating Korea 3-0 at the 4th Women’s U-18 Asia Cup hockey tournament 2016 on Thursday.

Sangita Kumari scored twice – one in the 55th and 58th minutes – soon after Ritu had opened the score board in the 45th minute, after a goalless first half. The two led India winning the bronze-medal play-off.

While the Indians were looking for counter opportunities from the very beginning, the Koreans made several penalty corners but failed to stand against the Indian defence mechanism.

After the break, Ritu scored the opener off a penalty corner and India then became unstoppable. After Sangita’s goals, India never lost firm control over the game, and despite a late Korean penalty corner, they held strong to march to a 3-0 win and secure a bronze medal.
