India Beats Pakistan, Storms Into Women’s Asia Cup Final
The Indian women’s cricket team came up trumps in the Women’s Asia Cup T20 tournament on Saturday. While Pakistan managed to gather an easy target of 73 runs for India to chase down after deciding to bat first, they also had a star player like Anam Amin who impressed early on, dismissing a steady hand and the pair of Mithali Raj and Deepti Sharma for a duck to unsettle India.

However, one particular Indian player shone on the ground. Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana cemented a solid partnership to help chase down the rival’s score. Though Mandhana was out after 38 runs, but Kaur remained firm and unbeaten. She led India to win the match by 7 wickets and thus entered the final of the tournament.
Indian women are on a roll, especially India’s T20 captain Harmanpreet Kaur, in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup T20. Except for losing the match against Bangladesh, they have won all their matches so far. It is turning out to be a highly successful tour thus far.
On Saturday, the Kaur-led team competed in the most crucial match against arch-rivals Pakistan Women. Pakistan, on the other end, was hoping to pick up a win over the tournament favourites.
The star cricketer, who guided India into the final of the Women’s World Cup with an unbeaten 171 against Australia, has just got back from Australia after playing in the Big Bash League there.
India will face off with the winner of Bangladesh Women vs Malaysia Women match.
So folks, what say? Would India’s women clinch the Asia Cup T20 trophy? Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
