Here Are Government Guidelines For Vaccination In Absence Of Photo Identity

COVID-19 Vaccine: The Union Health Ministry has issued an SOP that entrusts the vaccination of people without any photo identity.

The ministry assigned district task forces with the responsibility of registering those groups of people who do not have any photo identity cards on the Co-Win app which requires identity proof for the registration on the vaccine software.

The ministry said, "Covid-19 vaccination services may not be denied in absence of identity proofs."

The group of people will be represented by one key facilitator who will possess valid identification. The person will be the point person for the vaccination of people like beggars, prison inmates and others. This position can be held by either prison officials or old age home officials, according to the statement made by The apex court.

The ministry took the decision after receiving several representations from various state governments regarding people who do not have any valid identity proof which includes- Aadhaar card, voter ID card, passport, driving licence, PAN card, NPR smart card, pension document.

However, the Vaccination of these groups of people will take place only at government centres. Moreover, the key facilitator will have to verify the identity of the vaccine recipients.

Who Will Be Identified As Eligible In This Vaccination Process?

Nomads (including sadhu/saints from various religions), prison inmates, inmates in mental health institutions, people in old age homes, beggars, people residing in rehabilitation centres and any other identified eligible persons who don't have any of the seven prescribed photo ID cards will be among the several groups of people identified by the Court as eligible for the vaccination without any identification.

The second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has led to an outspread of the virus among the prison authorities. According to a report, about 319 Tihar jail inmates have been infected with Covid-19 while five died of the infection till May 3.
