Maybe It Was Destined: Brig LS Lidder's Wife, Daughter Bid Him Final Farewell

Brig Lakhwinder Singh Lidder wife Geetika and 16-year-old daughter Ashana paid their last respects to him at Brar Square, Delhi Cantt.

Brig Lakhwinder Singh Lidder was among the armed personnel who lost their lives in the Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter crash near the Upper Coonoor region in Tamil Nadu. He worked extensively on tri-services reforms as the defence assistant to India's first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat. He was a a second-generation Army officer and was set to be promoted as Major General soon.

His wife Geetika Lidder and 16-year-old daughter Aashna Lidder paid their last respects to him at Brar Square, Delhi Cantt. Brig Lidder’s late father, Mehanga Singh, served as a colonel in the Indian army. His sister is a teacher in a boarding school in Himachal Pradesh.

"I am going to be 17. So he was with me for 17 years, we will go ahead with happy memories. It's a national loss. My father was a hero, my best friend. Maybe it was destined and better things will come our way. He was my biggest motivator", says Aashna Lidder, daughter of Brig LS Lidder in an interview with ANI.

"We must give him a good farewell, a smiling send-off, I am a soldier's wife. It's a big loss", said Brig LS Lidder's wife Geetika Lidder in an interview.

Brigadier LS Lidder passed from the Indian Military Academy in December 1990. After that, he was commissioned into the Second Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Rifles. . Later, he commanded the same battalion. He is also a recipient of the Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal.

He had also served along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the North-East and in a counter-terrorist environment in Jammu and Kashmir. Besides that, he also commanded a brigade in the northern sector borders.

Brig LS Lidder was posted as the Defence Attaché in the Indian Embassy in Kazakhstan, apart from serving as the Adjutant of the Indian Military Academy and Director in the Military Operations Directorate.

Bipin Rawat, General Rawat's wife Madhulika Rawat, his Defence Adviser Brig Lakhbinder Singh Lidder, Squadron Leader K Singh, JWO Das, Junior Warrant Officer Pradeep A, Havildar Satpal, Naik Gursewak Singh,Staff Officer Lt Colonel Harjinder Singh, Wing Commander PS Chauhan, Naik Jitender Kumar, Lance Naik Vivek Kumar and Lance Naik Sai Teja are the other people who have succumbed to their injuries in the crash.
