The incident occurred on Wednesday evening and was confirmed by the police on Thursday. H Venkateshwarlu, the inspector from Hayathnagar police, provided details of the incident, stating that the girl's parents were labourers from Kalburgi in Karnataka. They were working on a nearby building construction project next to the Balaji Arcade apartment.

Due to the sweltering heat, the girl's mother, Kavitha, had brought her to the apartment and laid her down to sleep in the shade of the parking area. Kavitha informed the watchman's family of the apartment complex, asking them to keep an eye on her daughter's well-being. She even personally went inside the apartment twice to ensure her daughter's safety.

Hari Ramakrishna, a resident of the complex and an interior designer, unknowingly drove his car into the premises. Unaware of the little girl sleeping in the passage, he unintentionally drove over her while attempting to park the car. Realising the grave situation, Ramakrishna immediately rushed the injured girl to the hospital. Unfortunately, medical professionals declared her dead. The entire incident was captured by a closed-circuit television camera installed in the parking area.

Kavitha, who is a mother of two children, expressed her grief and shared her account with the reporters. She had entrusted the safety of her daughter to the watchman's family, believing that they would take care of her. The driver, Ramakrishna, claimed that he had not noticed the girl as she was covered with a bed sheet. A case has been registered against him under Section 304-A, which pertains to causing death by negligence. The police are currently investigating the matter.

Ramakrishna's wife is employed as a sub-inspector in the Prohibition and Excise department. The circumstances surrounding this tragic incident serve as a painful reminder of the importance of vigilance and caution in our daily lives. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a young life and hopes that such accidents can be prevented in the future through heightened awareness and responsible behaviour.
