Home Improvement Star Zachery Ty Charged For Physical Assault On Girlfriend

Zachery Ty Bryan, star of sitcom Home Improvement, has reportedly been charged on two counts in a case of assault against his girlfriend. The 39-year-old American actor has been sentenced to 36 months probation in the domestic violence case.

A case was filed against Bryan last year when he allegedly "choked" his girlfriend. Reports claim on October 16, 2020, there was a physical dispute after which authorities were dispatched to the location. They reportedly found Bryan had "impeded her breathing." He was booked into Lane County jail in Eugene, Oregon thereafter.

The Lane County District Attorney told PEOPLE that Bryan had pled guilty on charges of "menacing and assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence." His earlier additional charges of harassment and coercion, as under, have reportedly now been dismissed.

Zachary Ty Bryan was arraigned in Lane County Circuit Court on an 8 count Information charging menacingx2, harassment, coercion, assault 4x2, felony strangulation, and interfering with making a report. His next court date is 11/30/2020 at 2:30 p.m.

Zachery Ty Bryan Accused Of Fourth Degree Assault In October 2020

As per reports last year, after the incident occurred, Zachery Ty Bryan's girlfriend had revealed shocking details about the assault against her, claiming their relationship had turned abusive in the month leading up to October 16. She told authorities "he woke her up, pulled her out of bed by her hair and started beating her, all while shouting obscenities."

The victim claimed Bryan put his knee to her neck in a bid to choke her breathing as well. 

Two weeks before the October 2020 incident, Zachery Ty claims to have split with his wife, Carly Matros. The couple had been married for 13 years and were parents to three daughters and one son.

He announced the break on Instagram, writing, "Almost Fourteen years as best friends, soulmates, partners and then parents. It has been an incredible journey, but together, we've decided to turn the page and move on from our marriage."

The actor, best known for his role as Brad Taylor on Home Improvement, has also starred in other sitcoms like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Smallville. His filmography includes Magic Island and True Heart.
