The Hindustani Way was launched by the Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur on Tuesday. He wrote while launching the song, "Let me thank Ananya & AR Rahman for taking the initiative. I want every Indian to listen to it, share and cheer for India."

Thakur added, "I urge all my countrymen to listen to the song, share it with fellow citizens and also cheer for the entire Indian contingent for the Tokyo Olympics to show that we are behind them." It is also called the 'Cheer4India'.

Indian Olympic Association President Narinder Batra revealed that the song took 18 months after a culmination of hard work by all the stakeholders. Sports Secretary Ravi Mittal, MoS (Sports) Nisith Pramanik, Sports Authority of India Director General Sandip Pradhan, Narinder Batra and IOA Secretary General Rajeev Mehta were present during the launch of the song.

The featured video of the song includes archival footage from Atlanta Olympics (1996), Athens Olympics (2004), Beijing Olympics (2008), London Olympics (2012), and Rio Olympics (2016). It also has some exclusive training footage of this year’s contingent.

The video also has winning moments of Indian Tennis player Leander Peas, Boxer Vijender Singh, Sport shooter Abhinav Bindra, six time World Amateur Boxing Championship winner Mary Kom, Double trap shooter and former Minister of State for Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Badminton sensation PV Sindhu and Wrestler Sakshi Malik, among others.

On Tuesday, Batra had organised an online meet with the participants of the Tokyo Olympics from India with the Prime Minister. During the meet, PM Modi said to PV Sindhu, "If I meet you after the Olympics, I'll eat ice cream with you." This came after Sindhu said that she isn't having ice cream due to the competition.
