As per an NDTV report a CBI chargesheet in the case shows many lapses. The 19-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gangraped by men of an upper caste in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh. The girl died in a Delhi hospital nearly fifteen days after the alleged assault in September.

CBI chargesheet reportedly says that the woman's oral statement was not put in writing at the Chandpa Police Station when she came on September 14. Instead it was noted down five days after and she was medically examined for sexual assault only on September 22 -- eight days after the incident.

As the details come out, many political parties are attacking Uttar Pradesh Police for hiding information. As per News18,

SP spokesperson Sunil Singh Sajan said, “The CBI has exposed the lies of the Uttar Pradesh government in the Hathras incident. It is now clear how low the government can stoop to save the culprits. It is now out in the open that the DM cremated the body of the victim at midnight against the wishes of the family. Let’s see if Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who is always talking about justice, sends the ADG and the DM to jail or not. Will he order an FIR against BJP leaders who were saying that there was no rape?”
