Tevin Biles-Thomas, 24, brother of four-time Olympic gold-medal gymnast Simone Biles has been charged with murder in a New Year's Eve 2018 shooting that left three dead in Cleveland. Biles-Thomas, who is in the U.S. Army, is charged with voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault and perjury. He was arrested on Aug. 29 and is being held in Liberty County, Georgia, reports abc News.

After being asked to leave, that's when the altercation and subsequent shooting happened, police said. According to the police 23-year-old Devaughn Gibson, 19-year-old DelVaunte Johnson and 21-year-old Toshon Banks all died of multiple gunshot wounds. A 23-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man were also shot at the party but survived the shooting, officials said.

“The relentless persistence of Cleveland police homicide detectives helped secure an indictment in this case,” Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O’Malley said in a statement. “It is through their hard work that we can begin to seek justice for these victims.” reported ESPN.

No other arrests have been made in the shooting. Arraignment has been scheduled for Sept. 13 in Cuyahoga County in Cleveland.

Simone Biles, 22, won her sixth all-around title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships earlier this month. She won gold medals in the all-around, vault, floor exercise and team at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Simone who made history this month by becoming the first female gymnast to land two new moves in competition at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Kansas City, has not commented on the shooting.
