An autorickshaw driver and his friends allegedly gang–raped a 19-year old woman in Gurugram on Tuesday evening (April 30, 2018). The woman lodged a complaint on Wednesday. Following this, a case was registered at Bhondsi police station for gangrape, causing hurt by means of poison and criminal intimidation.
The woman lives in a village few kilometres from Sohna. She informed the police that she was waiting for a bus to Aligarh at the Sohna bus stand around 8 pm on Tuesday. The autorickshaw driver came and offered her a lift. The teen further added that the driver informed her that the bus to Aligarh had already left. He offered her the choice of taking a train from Gurugram. The girl agreed to take a lift from him. She, however, soon found that the driver took a turn towards Raisina crusher zone after a while. She protested but her efforts were in vain as he didn’t stop.
“The accused stopped the vehicle at a secluded spot where there were a lot of bushes and I saw four other persons waiting there. The accused caught hold of me and they took turns to rape me. When I tried to fight them off, they pinned down my hands and legs,” she told the police.
The woman told the police that after falling unconscious, the driver poured some water into her mouth. They also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the rape, police said.
She fell unconscious and the men fled the spot. After some time, she gained consciousness, returned home, informed her family members about the sexual assault who took her to the police the next day.
Crimes against women are surging day by day. It is sad to see that nothing much is being done to deter the perpetrators from committing such horrendous crimes in the first place.
