Gujarat Woman Arrested For Murdering 8-Year-Old Son To Affair: Report

Gujarat woman murders son: On Sunday, the Gujarat police arrested a woman and her brother-in-law for allegedly murdering her son to hide their illicit relationship. The couple hailed from Ahmedabad. Though the crime took place around two years ago, the offenders have been arrested now.

The child went missing in Sep 2018. A kidnapping report was filed on the very day by his family. The police have now succeeded in arresting the boy's mother and uncle, namely Josna Patel and Ramesh Patel for allegedly murdering him.

The family of the child namedHardik Patel had filed an abduction report at Viramgam rural police station after he went missing. They stated that he went out to buy sweets and did not return. According to the Ahmedabad rural police, the child's mother allegedly abducted the child with help of her brother-in-law.

The Ahmedabad local police released a statement which read that Hardik had come to know about his mother's affair with his uncle. His mother and uncle feared that he would disclose it to his father Jagdish Patel, his family and other villagers. So they brought him to a remote farmland in Jalampura village on Sep 28, 2018, killed him by strangulation, burnt the body and buried the remains.

The statement further said that a few days later, the child's uncle visited the farmland, dug up his remains and then threw them in a sewage line in order to destroy evidence. The two accused have been arrested under IPC 302 for murder and destruction of evidence. They are currently under police remand and further investigation is underway in the case.

Speaking on what caused them to suspect the involvement the child's mother in this case, the police said, "After interrogating the family members and villagers of Jalampura, we found many discrepancies in the statements of Josna and Ramesh who were present in the house at the time of incident,"

In a similar incident that took place in Ghazipur, New Delhi, a woman murdered her 6-year-old daughter to hide her illicit relationship. The child caught her mother with her lover and in order to save herself, the woman reportedly slit her daughter's throat. She then made up a story and told the police that her daughter's death was a result of an occult ritual. Read more here.
