Government To Launch WhatsApp Chatbox For Vaccine Related Queries

Once the chatbox is launched, citizens can send their queries on the number 9013151515 with the message “say vaccine”.  Besides, it will be linked with the Co-WIN app which will provide real-time data to individuals.

The government is planning to launch a WhatsApp chatbot that will help the citizens understand their queries regarding the COVID-19 vaccination. An official informed that the algorithms have been completed. However, they are awaiting to identify the maximum number of possible queries before the final launch of the chatbox.

This initiative will help people get information about their nearest locations from where they can avail the vaccine, the number of doses required, and when they will need to be administered. 

Once the chatbox is launched, citizens can send their queries on the number 9013151515 with the message “say vaccine”.  Besides, it will be linked with the Co-WIN app which will provide real-time data to individuals. Presently, the project is at the pilot stage and is being used to respond to frequently asked questions (FAQ) regarding the vaccination.

As per the chatbot’s FAQ section, vaccination will be introduced in the country once the regulatory bodies approve it based on its security and efficacy. The 13-page document addresses some key issues which include who will receive the vaccination on a priority basis,  whether the ones recovered from the disease need a vaccination, and how vaccines are chosen for administration. However, it underlines the fact that vaccination is mandatory.

The Drugs Controller General of India on Sunday announced that it has approved Covaxin, Bharat Biotech International Limited’s locally developed vaccine for COVID-19, and Oxford University-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in India by the Serum Institute of India. The immunisation roll-out will begin with the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. However, several people have criticized the Centre for prematurely rolling out Covaxin without the completion of its phase III trials.
