A day after Raksha Bandhan, villagers went to the river with the plants they sow a month before the Raksha Bandhan. As per tradition, the plants have to be submerged into the river. To perform the ritual, Anushka reached the Parvati river slightly earlier than the other villagers and her cousin Chavi, Govinda, and some other children from the village.

Three children whom Anushka saved reportedly said that after performing the ritual of submerging plants in the river, they collectively decided to dip in it. "The children were unaware of the dense flow of the river due to the heavy rainfall in the district from the past few days", said Sikarvar.

He added that the children got carried away to take a bath and slide toward the river, and rushed into the river's heavy flow.

In an attempt to save her cousin Anushka dived into the river and successfully drove three children out of the flow. She dropped them towards the river's shore.

Anushka once again jumped into the river to save her cousin Chavi; the powerful current engulfed both Chavi and Anushka, both drowned into the river. According to the reports, Chavi was the daughter of Anushka's uncle, who came to the village to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.

"Villagers, who were on their way to reach the river bank heard the screams of the children who were saved. Later, the dead bodies of two girls took out by the villager from the riverbank,"said Village head.

Sikarvar expressed that he had decided to start a competition as a tribute to the Anushka.
