Children are born with a substantial capacity to retain information. As a child grows, he or she experiences and receives new information. With the new information and the knowledge already present in the memory, he or she begins to form ‘associations’. As the child continues to acquire knowledge, he or she begins to build patterns of associations. These patterns get repeated again and again and become increasingly unintentional. They get stored in the nerve pathway of the brain as memory. To memorize things, it is essential to provide a learning environment conducive to the brain to form patterns of associations that get stored in the long-term memory for use when required. Similarly, to forget what we remember, we need to break these patterns of associations and create a roadblock in the nerve pathway, where the memory is stored. So, isn’t forgetting more difficult than remembering? To facilitate children to succeed in the world that is changing at a rapid pace, we need to keep abreast with the trends. The challenges we face today will not be the same as our emerging generations will be facing. However, without knowing the changes that the future is going to bring in, it becomes imperative for educators and parents to help children focus on their ‘working memory’ Unfortunately, the skills that should be enhanced to nurture children’s future buckles under academic pressures and narrows down the possibility for them to evolve. We, as parents, need to make our children ‘time-proof’ and ‘future-ready’ by enhancing their working memory today.

To memorize things, it is essential to provide a learning environment conducive to the brain to form patterns of associations that get stored in the long-term memory for use when required.
