Griffin said on the radio, "I gotta go. My wife is going into labour! I'll see you guys later!" The co-hosts were informed of this and joined him in cheerily hugging and cheering. While being pursued by an ESPN camera to record the moment, the football analyst hilariously ran out of the stadium.

Later, Griffin announced that he had taken a flight home. He tweeted, "Made a SOUTHWEST FLIGHT to get home. HOLD ON BABY, DADDYs COMING!"

The couple, however, had to wait a little longer to meet their daughter. Using the microblogging platform, he posted, "Update!!! Southwest got me home on time! Because our baby decided it WASN'T TIME TO COME OUT YET. We are at home and enjoying the other kind of 2023 fireworks. Baby Girl must have known that Mommy and Daddy had never spent a New Year's apart. GOD KNEW where I needed to be."

Meanwhile, Griffin was being dropped off at the airport when Grete Griffin posted an Instagram story about it. She states in the video, "Take number two: Dropping Robert off at the airport to go to another bowl game. Hopefully this time, baby will stay in... She wanted to make a dramatic entrance to 2023 but decided not to, so, we'll see how it goes this time around."

Additionally, she posted on Instagram to thank her husband. She posted a couple of images with a caption. Her caption read, "I called him while he was on live TV with the full expectation that I wouldn't be able to reach him, but I guess when your wife calls while she's nine months pregnant, you answer the phone no matter what you're doing, huh?"

Grete added, "I only had to say the word "labour" for this man to STOP CALLING A BOWL GAME and sprint to the car so he could catch a 4-hour flight home. I love you more than life, baby, and I am so beyond grateful for how you love me, care for me, and what you sacrifice for me."
