The wedding ceremony took place at their home in Nakhon Si Thammarat, Thailand on March 4, 2021.

Their parents follow Buddhist teachings that claim all twins are born together due to having ‘karma’ from a past life. It is their belief that they were lovers whose relationship ended before they could wed in their past life. They believe that if the twins do not get married at the earliest possible chance, then their lives will be haunted by bad luck.

The twins married in front of friends and family invited by the parents to witness the marriage. The wedding ceremony was followed by a traditional Thai wedding and contained parades, dancing, and relatives offering dowry. A Buddhist monk was present to chant blessing during the union.

The father of the twins, Weerasak said “We believe that if your children were born twins who have a different gender, they must be married or else one of them will fall ill later in their lives. We are only doing this to make sure our children are safe. We do not want them to be sick and there is nothing to lose if we follow this belief.”

While the twins married each other, it is not legally valid and the marriage was done for ceremonial purposes.
