Firoz Nadiadwala's Wife Shabana Saeed Granted Bail By Mumbai Court

Film producer Firoz Nadiadwala’s wife Shabana Saeed has been granted bail by a Mumbai court today. The personal bond for Saeed's bail was set at rupees 15,000. Saeed was sent to judicial custody for 14 days following her arrest on Sunday regarding possession of drugs. She was presented before the 8th metropolitan magistrate court on Monday.

Apart from Saeed names of celebrities like Arjun Rampal and his girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades have also come up recently in NCB's ongoing probe into alleged Bollywood drug nexus.

The Narcotics Central Bureau (NCB) had allegedly found, in an early morning search, nearly 10 grams of ‘ganja’ (marijuana) from her Versova flat in Mumbai on Sunday. The search of the producer’s wife’s residence followed the nab of a drug peddler, namely Wahid Kadir Shaikh alias Sultan Mirza, on Friday who reportedly mentioned the name of Shabana Saeed. Around 701 grams of marijuana or ganja, 74.1 grams of cannabis or charas and 3.1 grams of mephedrone was reportedly recovered by the NCB team from Shaikh. A cash amount of 1.7 lakh was also found along with the drug supplies. Reportedly, Shaikh used to supply drugs to high-profile clients.

Nadiadwala was not present at home during the process. He was reportedly summoned by the NCB for interrogation on Monday as well. He revealed that he hasn’t been staying with his wife lately. Nadiadwala also clarified that neither does he drink or smoke, nor is he into consumption of drugs.

Saeed procured drugs for personal consumption: NCB official

“During interrogations Sultan revealed many names, including Firoz Nadiadwala’s wife Shabana. He has said that he has been regularly supplying her drugs for the past seven to eight months. On the basis of this information, we carried out a search of their residence and found 10 grams of ganja. She was served notice and after recording her statement under Section 67 of the NDPS Act, she placed under arrest,” said an official. According to the officials, Saeed said that she procured the drugs for her personal consumption.

“Though the seizure is not much, it has to be seen since how long she has been procuring drugs from Sultan and the money involved,” said an official. It was further said that Nadiadwala would be summoned again if required.

In an interview, Nadiadwala said, “The truth will be out. Pray for me, bhai.” However, he did not comment on the allegations of procurement of drugs levelled against Saeed.

The NCB has questioned other Bollywood celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh, among others in connection with drug abuse in Sushant Singh Rajput case.
