According to the complaint lodged by Chakraborty, a “bogus and unlawful” medical prescription “was sent by the petitioners with the help of a Delhi-based doctor wherein medicines for anxiety were prescribed to Rajput." The doctor was identified as one from Delhi's Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Rajput’s sisters – Priyanka and Meetu Singh – were booked by the Bandra police in September 2020.

Why Bombay HC Didn't Quash FIR Against Priyanka Singh: Explained

The Bombay HC observed that a prima facie case has been made out against Priyanka Singh upon Chakraborty's allegation of her conspiracy and abetment to the Rajput's suicide. As per reports, Rajput had been taking prescription drugs as treatment for his mental health issues. He had allegedly also seen a therapist.

As per Chakraborty's complaint, "On June 8, 2020, Rajput showed me the messages he and his sister Priyanka had exchanged in which Priyanka sent him a list of medicines to take. I explained to Rajput that he has already been prescribed medicines by doctors who are treating him... He, however, disagreed with me and insisted that he would only take the medicine his sister was prescribing," Bar & Bench quotes.

FIR against Priyanka Singh sustains

In this regard, the Bombay HC stated, "There is prima facie case found against Priyanka Singh and there should not be any impediment against investigation against her," thereby refusing to quash the FIR against Priyanka Singh.

Priyanka will be investigated for medicine prescriptions to Rajput that contained psychotropic substances controlled under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, as per Hindustan Times.

Sushant Singh Rajput died by alleged suicide on June 14 last year at his Bandra residence. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is currently investigating the death case.
