As the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Election approaches, the Congress party lost one more candidate in the state. Farah Naeem, who was the party’s candidate from Shekhupur Assembly seat in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh resigned after alleging inappropriate remarks by the district party president.

In an interview with ANI, Naeem recounted Onkar Singh, the district party president, allegedly saying that Muslim women should not get tickets. “Party district president Onkar Singh said Muslim women should not get a ticket & that I’m a characterless woman. Women are not safe in the district unit,” said Naeem.
