Elon Musk Might Step Down From Twitter

In April, she filed a petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica for a name change and a new birth certificate reflecting her new gender identification. In the online document, her new name was redacted. Justine Wilson, who divorced Musk in 2008, is her mother. There was no further reason for the disagreement between Musk's daughter and her father, Elon Musk, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO who is attempting to buy Twitter for $44 billion.

Neither a lawyer who represents Musk nor the Tesla media office immediately responded to Reuters emails requesting comment on Monday.

In May, about a month after the name and gender change document was filed, Musk declared his support for the Republican Party, whose elected representatives support a raft of legislation that would limit transgender rights in states across the country.

Musk commented on the issue of transgender persons choosing their preferred pronouns in 2020, tweeting, "I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare."

Between 2016 and 2019, 1.5 million, or 15%, of 10 million online posts on social media platforms were transphobic, according to a 2019 analysis from anti-bullying organisation Ditch the Label and its analytics partner, Brandwatch.

According to a report published by the Anti-Defamation League in 2021, 64% of LGBTQ respondents have experienced online hatred and harassment, compared to 46% of Muslims, 36% of Jews, and around a third of Black, Latino, and Asian American respondents. (NBC News).
