Upon returning to India, Dr. Sohonie continued her pioneering work. She served as head of the Department of Biochemistry at Lady Hardinge College and later delved into the nutritional value of various foods consumed by India's poorest communities. Her research on 'Neera,' a palm extract with immense potential for combating malnutrition in tribal children, earned her the prestigious Rashtrapati Award.
