Delhi: Class 12 Student Allegedly Harasses Airhostess Trainee Online, Arrested

Delhi Student Harassed Airhostess Trainee: A class 12 student from Delhi was apprehended by the police for allegedly stalking and harassing a 20-year-old air hostess trainee. The boy also threatened the woman to have a sexual relationship with him.

A class 12 student from Delhi was apprehended as he allegedly stalked, harassed, and threatened an air hostess trainee on Instagram. The matter was looked into after the woman reported the case to the police. The 20-year-old woman allegedly claimed that she was being stalked, threatened, and harassed by a person on the Instagram platform.

According to the report filed by the woman, she has been facing online harassment for the past few days. The person had been allegedly stalking her and even sent her obscene content through private messages on Instagram. The accused also threatened her to have a nonconsensual sexual relationship with him.

According to police investigations, the alleged stalker has been identified to be a 17-year-old class 12 student residing in Krishna Nagar, Delhi. After further examinations of the case, the police found that the accused also sent a spoofed email to the woman. The girl said that the harassment and stalking have been going on for three to four days.

After analysing the email used, the police found that the accused was using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) to hide his identity. After collecting information and further examining it with the help of other technical surveillance and cyber forensic tools, the police could identify and locate the culprit.

The class 12 student was subsequently apprehended after being identified by the police. A mobile phone used for operating the Instagram account and email ID that he used for harassing the air hostess trainee was also recovered by the police. The juvenile was also produced before the Juvenile Justice Board after being apprehended.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, R Sathiyasundaram said that a case was registered at Jagat Puri Police Station based on the complaints and the findings. The case was registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 354(D) (stalking), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), and 509 (Word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).
