On Sunday, there was a function called "Kuwan Puja," and Harish’s son and a DJ were playing loud music during the ceremony. Ranju and her sister-in-law, who live across the street, had come out to the balcony and asked Harish to stop the music.

Harish took a gun, an unlicensed desi katta, and fired at Ranju. The bullet hit Ranju in the neck, injuring her. While Ranju’s sister-in-law, who was the eyewitness, claimed that the accused fired at Ranju in a fit of rage, the police said they are investigating the possibility of a celebratory firing.

The police have lodged a case under IPC Sections 307 (attempt to murder), 34 (common intention), and Section 27 of the Arms Act against both accused, Harish and Amit. Harish works at a courier company, while Amit owns a mobile repair shop.
