As per the reports, the girl had gone to her coaching class. After the classes, she went to meet the online friend who later raped her.

According to a senior police officer, "We got to know that she decided to meet her social media friend. After that, she was raped. The girl took a rickshaw to return to her home when she fainted near the metro station and received minor injuries."

The girl was found unconscious by some passerby who took her to the hospital and informed her family. The girl then narrated her ordeal to her family, who reported the incident to the police.

Further investigation is underway.

A parallel incident happened in Mumbai

Last month, a 21-year-old woman from Mumbai narrated her ordeal of being raped by a man she met on Instagram. She posted about the incident on Instagram and said that alleged accuser Hitesh Shah spiked her drinks and then raped her at his friend's place.

As per her account, she met Shah for the first time on January 13. Some of his friends joined in and all went for drinks at a popular restaurant. However, after a few drinks, the woman was intoxicated. Yet Shah insisted that she drank more. She even had a blackout experience after which she didn't know what happened.

She woke up to the horror of Shah raping her. Despite her attempts to stop, he didn't and even slapped her three times out of rage. His friends too physically assaulted her for trying to defend herself.

The woman's family filed an FIR against Shah under Sections 376 (punishment for rape) and 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code. But Shah had fled Mumbai. The woman wrote in the post, "I seek justice and urge other girls to be more wary of who they talk to and go out with."
