Daughter Of Domestic Help Nandita Haripal Tops Jharkhand Board

Nandita attributes her success to her regularity in attending classes, having a study schedule and also going for a coaching class.

Nandita Haripal emerged as the Arts topper when Jharkhand Academic Council, (JAC) Ranchi declared its results on July 17. She topped the arts stream by scoring 419 marks out of 500. Nandita is a student of Jamshedpur Women’s College (JWC). Her father is a tailor by profession and her mother works as domestic help.

This year, 2,34,363 candidates appeared for the JAC 12th exams. The total passing percentage is 77.37%. Nandita attained 90 marks in Hindi, 88 in Geography, 85 in History, 82 in English and 74 in Political Science. She aspires to become a journalist.

“I was expecting a good result but I never imagined I would be the state topper,” she told TOI.

The Women's College Principal Dr Shukla Mohanty also paid a visit to the topper’s home to bless her with flowers. Furthermore, she assured the topper that she would receive all possible assistance for future studies.

“I will leave no stone unturned to help her study further. Parents must support their children in their studies. They must not put pressure on them,” Nandita’s father, Rajesh Haripal told ANI.

Topper's Strategy

Nandita attributes her success to her regularity in attending classes, having a study schedule and going for a coaching class. She stated that her parents were supportive of her academic endeavours and didn’t let financial constraints affect her studies.

“It is not necessary that one succeeds only by taking tuitions. However, they must attend classes regularly,” Nandita told ANI.
