Cricketer Mithali Raj scripted history by becoming the first Indian batswoman to score 10,000 international runs.

She has joined the exclusive list of women’s cricketers to have reached 10,000 runs in international cricket, across formats. Sharing her secret, Mithali Raj is set to inspire women across various fields to excel and break records.

While revealing her secret to success, Raj said, “When you play for this long, you go through different milestones. This being one of it, the key for me has always been consistency and I have always believed in scoring runs each time I go out to bat, whether it is domestic or international cricket.”

Mithali Raj further added, ” As long as I get an opportunity to bat, it has to be counted and that has given me a lot of experience and exposure to work on my game over the years with the changing standards in the women’s game and trying to be relevant in the international circuit.”

Soon after she reached the landmark in the third ODI against South Africa, the BCCI had tweeted and congratulated Raj on the achievement.

In the current women’s ODI team, the Raj has played 10 Tests, scoring 663 runs which include a double hundred (214) against England in Taunton in 2002. She has played 211 ODIs in total and as many as 82 T20Is for Team India.

Previously, Raj recorded the most international appearances in women’s cricket. Playing the second ODI against South Africa on March 9, she became the most capped female player in the history of international women’s cricket by recording her 310th appearance on Tuesday.
