Sound of Music Actor Christopher Plummer Dies At 91

Tributes poured in for the veteran actor Christopher Plummer who passed away on Friday at home in Connecticut.

Oscar-winning actor Christopher Plummer, most well known for his role as Captain Von Trapp in the legendary Sound of Music, passed away at the age of 91. The veteran actor spent his last moments with his wife Eliane Taylor and his closest friend and manager Lou Pitt by his side at home in Connecticut, United States.

Lou Pitt said in a statement about Plummer, "Chris was an extraordinary man who deeply loved and respected his profession with great old fashion manners, self-deprecating humor, and the music of words." Plummer was also known for his exceptional work in the Sound of Music. 

Pitt further added, "He was a national treasure who deeply relished his Canadian roots. Through his art and humanity, he touched all of our hearts and his legendary life will endure for all generations to come."

Ellen Degeneres tweeted a fond memory of Plummer from her show and sent love to his family. 

Soon after the news broke out, the internet was filled with condolences and sweet memories of the veteran actor.

Plummer loved playing the Piano in the Sound of Music, in which he was cast with Julia Andrews. In fact, he wanted to be a pianist has his career in acting not taken off. 

Christopher Plummer's career spanned over seven decades. Right from Sidney Lumet's Stage Struck which was his debut film to The Last Full Measure, he didn't miss out to surprise the viewers with some exceptional performance. In Plummer's recent mystery film 'Knives Out' along with Chris Evans, he played the role of Harlan Thrombey who is a mystery novelist.

Many times actors fade away in their old age. But not Christopher Plummer who continued his legacy. In fact, it's not just restricted to movies and acting but Plummer has also written the memoir book 'In Spite Of Myself'.
