The Only Celeb President Biden Follows On Twitter

Harry Potter aficionados will recall how Harry, while sending his son off to Hogwarts in the last book, had given him a key piece of advice: you need only ask the Sorting Hat to place you in the house of your choice. And just like that, we saw a similar scene play out on Twitter in the aftermath of the US Presidential Inauguration 2021. US President Joe Biden’s official account follows exactly one celebrity: Chrissy Teigen. Why? She asked for it.

Teigen, known for her fiery takedowns of former President Donald Trump, had long been blocked by the POTUS (President of the United States) account when he was the national leader. On the morning of Biden and Kamala Harris’ Inauguration on Wednesday, Teigen, who was with her family for the ceremony in Washington DC, wrote, “hello @joebiden I have been blocked by the president for four years can I get a follow plz” And Biden heard her apparently. The POTUS account now follows 11 administration officials and aides – and Teigen.

Chrissy Teigen Reacts To POTUS Following Her

After social media user Gabe Fleisher pointed it out, Teigen responded ecstatically, “OH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!!” She added, “my heart oh my god lmao I can finally see the president’s tweets and they probably won’t be unhinged”

Teigen, whose husband John Legend was one of the singers performing at the Inauguration, had been giving live social media updates from her bedroom in DC on Wednesday morning. She even posted pictures from the Lincoln Memorial with a view of the Washington Monument with her husband, and children Miles and Luna. “everything is new and better. very happy. the most happy bigly happy,” she wrote.

Teigen Draws Flak For Attending Inauguration

Given the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance at the Inauguration this year was reportedly restricted with only limited people with access to the Capitol, where the ceremony was held. Tiegen, whose pictures from DC had started pouring in on social media in the hours leading up to Inauguration, drew harsh criticism from followers for being given access to the event when other Americans were not.

Responding to the backlash, the 35-year old wrote on Twitter, “for f**ks sake why are you guys always always mad at me, all I wanna do is make you happy or at least leave you with a neutral feeling of indifference.”
