Chinese Woman "Too Beautiful" To Be Oxford Graduate Accused Of Faking Degree

A 28-year-old woman from China faced relentless trolling after she posted a video of her graduation from Oxford University. Netizens accused her of lying about her degree and the woman took to social media to slam the trolls.

Earlier this year, Kate Zhu Wenqi shared a video of her receiving a master's degree in mathematics with the highest marks in her course. The video went viral, and Wenqi suffered months of social media backlash. Netizens accused her of faking her impressive academic success in maths at Oxford because she did not look like a "typical top student".

Kate Zhu Wenqi faced harsh criticism after a video of her graduation went viral on social media. She came under public scrutiny in March 2022, after the video of receiving her master's degree in mathematics with the highest marks in her course went viral.

Netizens began to question the authenticity of the degree and claimed she didn't look like the "typical top student".

When the allegations first began, Wenqi posted a link and screenshot from Oxford's website proving that she was a student. She also shared her tutor's email congratulating her on achieving the highest marks in her department.

However, this response drew a different type of criticism. One netizen asked, "Even if you have a degree from a top university, can't you be modest?"

10 months after the video went viral, Wenqi addressed her critics in another video. She wrote in the caption, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger!".

The Oxford graduate said that she had experienced many emotions since the video went viral and had received "plenty of encouragement and sincerity".

In the video, Wenqi slammed people for believing in old stereotypes and claiming that she couldn't be a good student just because she posted selfies on her social media.

She asked, "Does releasing one's selfies mean the person is poor at studying?"

Wenqi added it was time to break the stereotype and said, "as long as the stereotype exists, it should be slapped".
