Film and television actor Chhavi Mittal has been recovering as she underwent surgery for breast cancer which was detected earlier this year. Mittal was diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer and underwent surgery in April. The television actor documented her journey on her social media. Recently, the actor posted a photo and showed the scar the surgery had left behind.
Mittal who has been vocal about the journey opened up about the physical scars, emotional scars, and how people “flinched at the sight of it”. She spoke about how the physical scars are visible to the naked eye but “you’ll never see the ones etched on the bearer’s soul.” The actor added that after she “found the courage to flaunt this scar, there were some who flinched at the sight of it”.
Chhavi Mittal Shows Scars From Surgery
Mittal said in her caption that several people asked whether she planned of removing her surgical scars to which she replied in negation. She said that the scars reminded her of the tough fight she put up against cancer and her eventual triumph. She described her surgical scars as battle scars and said the removal of her surgical scars would be “tampering with evidence”.
"Yesterday when I found the courage to flaunt this scar… there were some who flinched at the sight of it. I say, if the mere sight of it makes you flinch, imagine what I felt when it was given to me! But in my opinion, a man is not a complete man if he has the nerve to look down and admire a woman’s assets but is not brave enough to appreciate the effort she went through to save those assets," she wrote.
She ended the post on a stronger note and said that she was proud to be a cancer survivor.
The actor has advocated for people to conduct self-examinations and mammograms regularly and asked them to not "neglect a lump if you find one".
Mittal also left a positive comment for actor Mahima Chaudhry and said that she is braver than she gives herself credit for. The Pardes actor recently revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer as well and has now fully recovered from it.
Chhavi Mittal is a film and television actor known for her appearances in television shows Tumhari Disha, Bandini, Naaginn, Twinkle Beauty Parlour, Krishnadasi, Viraasat, Teen Bahuraaniyaa, and Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan. Mittal also appeared in the 2008 film Ek Vivaah… Aisa Bhi.
