Neeraj Bishnoi, the 21-year-old creator of the application Bulli Bai on GitHub has been taken into judicial custody by the police. The resident of Jorhat in Assam was arrested by the Delhi police on January 6, 2022.

The Mumbai police produced Bishnoi along with Aumkareshwar Thakur in the Bandra magistrate court on January 20. Bishnoi was sent to judicial custody by the court of Metropolitan Magistrate in Mumbai on January 31.

All the six accused arrested in the case are now in judicial custody. Apart from Thakur and Bishnoi, the police have also arrested Vishal Kumar Jha, Shweta Singh, Mayank Rawat, and Niraj Singh.

It was on the Trad Mahasabha group where the source code of Sulli Deal was posted by Aumkareshwar Thakur, who was arrested by Delhi Police from Indore of Madhya Pradesh. Neeraj Bishnoi got a boost to develop the Bulli Bai app from the code received and how the members in the group discussed the inefficiency of Delhi police in identifying them despite registering an FIR.

The Delhi Police for the first time used the word Trad as a reference to an online group referring to the people considering themselves as traditionalists and using platforms against the minority community.

He uploaded pictures of women from the Muslim community especially those of journalists, activists, performed a "fake auction" for them in a derogatory manner, and used their pictures posted on social media for the purpose. The application was hosted on the open platform GitHub until it was taken down following complaints about objectionable content. It was hosted on the subdomain by the name bullibai.github.io launched on January 1. 

Earlier in January 2022, Bishnoi requested bail and the issue was heard at the Patiala House Court in New Delhi.
