The family claimed that she could have been alive, struggling to break free from her coffin 11 days after she was laid to rest. Reports of mysterious noises coming from Almeida’s burial site alarmed the family. Visitors to the cemetery claimed to have heard distinct noises of someone groaning and banging from the stone tomb where Almeida was laid to rest.

The family hurried to the scene after hearing eerie noises and dug up the grave. The exhumation process unearthed some disturbing findings. Almeida’s wrists and forehead were injured, and traces of blood were found inside the coffin. The loose nails on the coffin lid deepened the mystery.

The family members confirmed that the injuries were absent during the burial. Witnesses during the exhumation claimed that Almeida’s body retained a sense of warmth, suggesting the possibility that she might not have been deceased for a long period of time. However, despite the revelations, Almeida did not survive the ordeal.

Subsequently, the police conducted an investigation, which introduced elements of doubt into the claims of people hearing groaning and banging noises from the coffin. The idea that the strange sounds could have been "rumours" has arisen.

Consequently, individuals involved in exhumation faced potential legal repercussions for disturbing a grave. According to Brazilian law, such a crime could warrant a prison sentence of up to three years.

Civil authorities intervened and conducted an assessment to bring some clarity to the entire ordeal. They concluded that Rosangela Almeida had not been buried alive, which offered a sense of closure to a distressing episode for the entire community.
