The streets of Hainault in London, UK were turned to grounds of terror when a man in a yellow hoodie wielded a sword on the streets in broad daylight on April 30 shortly before 7 am. The online videos show many clips of the suspect roaming the streets with what seemed like a samurai sword. The man armed with sword also attacked five people including two police officers with his weapon, killing a 13-year-old boy. The man's sword was hard to put under control but a female cop on the scene bravely took the charge after she single-handedly arrested the man.
Caught On Cam: Brave UK Female Cop takes Down Sword-Wielding Man
The incident from Northeast London saw a 36-year-old man in a yellow hoodie on the streets of Hainault brandishing what seemed like a samurai sword amidst the rising cases of knife crime in the UK. The incident of the harrowing attack has sent shockwaves of terror around the community and all over the internet prompting reactions and raising concerns over public safety.
As the CCTV footage shows the man brandishing the weapon climbing fences and entering gardens, the witnesses of the antics immediately reported the incident prompting a quick dispatch of the police officers on the scene. In many CCTV footage, despite the arrival of the police on the scene, the suspect can still be seen defending himself as he even attacked two of the police officers.
It was a female officer who confronted the suspect singlehandedly before others joined her to cuff down the man on the ground. Following the established protocols, the lone female cop can be heard in the video yelling commands to the suspect to drop the weapons and for residents to stay indoors.
The tense standoff only culminated when the female cop launched her teaser to incapacitate the man, putting an end to his perilled antics. A backup to this brave cop arrived shortly after and the suspect was as swiftly apprehended as the could-be-harmful man was bravely brought to subjugation by the unsung lone female cop by herself.
The identity of the officer involved in the takedown has not yet been released, but her actions are sure to be recognized for their courage and effectiveness in a high-pressure situation.
While the Prime Minister of the UK expressed his gratitude to the emergency services and their prompt action, there was no special mention of the female cop. King Charles III also expressed in a statement from Buckingham Palace his shock and sent his condolences to everyone affected by the scene, especially the family of the teenage boy who lost his life.
The motive of the man's action has yet not been disclosed as further investigation is underway but the incident has been observed to not be a terrorist-related act. No injuries to the suspected man have been reported as well.
This incident is a distinct example of the dangers faced by law enforcement officers on the duty line and of their bravery.
