Actor Turned BJP Leader Sonali Phogat Passes Away Due To Suspected Heart Attack

Reportedly, Sonali Phogat complained of uneasiness to her staff after which she was rushed to the hospital. Police have informed that a post-mortem is being conducted.

Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader and actor Sonali Phogat passed away on Monday, August 22. Phogat died of a suspected heart attack in Goa at the age of 42. She is survived by her daughter Yashodhara Phogat.

Reportedly, Sonali Phogat complained of uneasiness to her staff after which she was rushed to the hospital. Police have informed that a post-mortem is being conducted.

The National Vice President of BJP’s Mahila Morcha and some of her staff members went to Goa. She contested the 2019 elections from Adampur, Haryana as a BJP candidate and lost to politician Kuldeep Bishnoi.

Sonali Phogat Passes Away

Phogat hailed from Haryana and was an actor turned politician. She made her television debut in 2006 when she appeared as an anchor for a regional show on Doordarshan. She made her acting debut in the 2016 television series Ek Maa Jo Laakhon Ke Liye Bani Amma. In 2019, Phogat was featured in the web series The Story of Badmashgarh and in the music video for the Haryanvi song Bandook Aali Jaatni. Phogat had also appeared in Chhoriyan Chhoron Se Kam Nahi Hoti, a Haryanvi film.

Phogat was also a well-known TikTok star and made an appearance on the television reality show Bigg Boss 14. She entered as a wild card contestant in season 14 where actor Rubina Dilaik emerged as the winner.

In 2020, a video of the BJP leader assaulting the market committee secretary Sultan Singh went viral. She accused Singh of making derogatory remarks against her and said she failed to control her anger and thrashed her. Singh alleged that he never abused her. Both parties filed complaints against each other.

The late actor and BJP leader Sonali Phogat was born in Hisar, Haryana and was married off after she completed 10th grade. Her husband, Sanjay Phogat passed away in December 2017 under mysterious circumstances. She had previously said that her late husband was always supportive of her choices and supported her when she wanted to pursue acting and a political career.
