Prime Minister Modi announced his dream project ‘Startup India’ for January 16th where the government will release the action plan to boost the sector. DIPP Secretary Amitabh Kant is spearheading this effort, that promises to be the biggest congregation of startups ever in India.
The effort is intended to nurture the startups, which have innovation in their core. Government is also considering extending the benefits to startups working on development, deployment or commercialization of new products, processes or services driven by technology or intellectual property. This is considered as a major move in creating the startup friendly environment in the country as the eligible startups will be consented with tax incentives and simplified compliance rules.
There is also an effort to promote women led startups as banks are being encourage to give collateral free loans for those with startups. Investors from Silicon Valley along with SoftBank Chief Executive Officer Masayoshi Son and Uber founder Travis Kalanick as well Indian startup honchos from PayTM, Ola, Shopclues are going to be present.
