MP Cop To Give Dinner Treat To Couples Who Get Married With 10 Or Fewer Guests

Bhind District: Bride and groom with 10 or fewer guests at their wedding ceremonies will get dinner treat from police in Bhind District, Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said.

The decision has been taken to make people follow the COVID-19 protocols while hosting wedding ceremonies during the pandemic in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district.

According to the statement of purpose issued by the state government, wedding functions can be attended by up to 50 people. The idea to reward people who make an effort to have fewer guests at their weddings was taken after a video from the district went viral which showed individuals dancing and enjoying a wedding ceremony in the Kurthara village of the district without wearing masks and flouting social distancing rules.

Manoj Kumar, the SP said, "I am going to treat the bride and groom if they wed in the presence of ten or less guests to delicious dinner at my home."

He added that such couples will also be given mementoes for following the COVID-19 protocol and a government vehicle will be deployed to drop and pick the couple from home. The announcement was made two days ago by the SP and according to him, no couple has done the needful to receive the reward so far.

He said that he has been told about two couples who are getting married on April 30 with the number of guests limited to 10. " If they do that, I am going to throw two dinners for them at my home along with my family," he said.

According to reports, the Bhind district in Madhya Pradesh reported 44 positive cases of COVID-19 and one death. As of now, there are 221 active cases of COVID-19 infections in the district.

As far as Madhya Pradesh state is concerned, there are the caseload of active cases is 91,000. The state on Monday reported 13,601 new cases of COVID-19.
