A 25-year-old medical graduate, Dr Bhawana Yadav from Rajasthan's Alwar, died from severe burn injuries in Haryana. Dr Yadav was travelling home from Delhi, but was found with severe burn injuries in Hisar on April 24. She was taken to a hospital in Jaipur, where she died during treatment. Although the circumstances leading to her death are still unclear, the Rajasthan police have registered a murder case against a man from Rewari, according to the Times of India.
Dr Bhawana Yadav case
Dr Bhawana's mother, Gayatri Yadav, filed a zero FIR in Jaipur, claiming that her daughter was murdered. The young doctor reportedly took online classes and travelled to Delhi weekly for tests. She was supposed to return to Alwar on April 24, but never did.
Gayatri got a call from a man who introduced himself as Umesh Yadav, informing her that Dr Bhawana was injured in Hisar. Considering the seriousness of her burns, she was shifted to Jaipur's SMS hospital, where she died during treatment.
Her mother has claimed that her abdomen had injury marks from a sharp weapon. She alleged that her daughter was stabbed and then set on fire. Gayatri added that her daughter's belongings, including a laptop and mobile phone, were missing.
Inspector Kavita, in charge of Hisar Civil Lines police station, confirmed that as of now, the sero FIR from the Rajasthan Police has not yet been officially received, according to the Times of India.
Dr Bhawana Yadav pursued her medical studies in the Philippines in 2023 and was preparing for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination, a medical license exam in India. The test is mandatory for Indian citizens and overseas citizens of India (OCI) cardholders who have gained their MBBS degree abroad.
Dr Bhawana took her exam in Delhi on April 21 and 22. On April 23, Bhawana called her mother and said she would return home the next morning, but never arrived.
