Former Union Minister and senior leader of the Congress party in Gujarat Bharatsinh Solanki's wife Reshma Solanki has accused him of domestic violence and having an extramarital affair. Reshma has filed a petition against her husband in Borsad court at Anand, Gujarat. She also accused Bharatsinh of allegedly driving her out of the house, while stating that she does not want to divorce him.
The dispute between the two has been going on for years now, but only became public in 2021 as both sides had started issuing notices in newspapers to put forth their story. Resham had even written an open letter to Rahul Gandhi earlier, before his visit to Gujarat, about the former minister allegedly having an extramarital affair with another woman member of the Congress party. She had also accused him of using this political influence and threatening to kill her.
Bharatsinh Solanki has previously held the position of the Chief of Gujarat Congress twice and in both instances, the party had lost during the assembly elections. He recently called the Members Of the Legislative Assembly from Congress for dinner to discuss the strategy for the next assembly polls in the state.

Speaking about the threats she received from her husband, Reshma Solanki told ANI, "I fled to the United States for some time for my safety as I was receiving threats. When I returned back, I tried to enter the house two-three times but I have been thrown out of the house by him."
She also alleged that Bharatsinh had threatened to kill her if she decided to come back to the house. "I have received a notice from my husband, due to which me and my family's image has been tarnished. They are spreading rumours about us due to which my parents and siblings are suffering socially."
She added that since there was no other option left, she approached the court and asked the Superintendent of Police at Anand to give her protection. She also said, "I am an Indian woman, I will live with my husband, won't give him a divorce."
The Indian Express reported that a separate complaint has been filed by a domestic help working at the politician's house against Reshma. The complaint also stated that she broke into the locker and removed valuables from there and handed it to the men accompanying her.
