Shells of bullets and bombs were found on the scene. Despite being informed, it is alleged that the police failed to take swift action to recover the bullets and bombs from the site, according to the locals.

Pintu Singh had decided to contest the election as an independent candidate after the ruling Trinamool Congress refused to give him a ticket.

The voting for the election has been underway in West Bengal since Saturday for the three-tier panchayat polls. So far, at least nine people have been killed in the election process today, which serves as a litmus test for the 2024 parliamentary elections. This three-tier panchayat election could redefine the state’s political landscape.

Since the date of the polls was announced on June 8, the state has been witnessing widespread violence. Fifteen people, including a minor, have died as a result of the violence.
