A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by over 400 men near Ambejogai bus stand. The girl had left her husband's home earlier this year due to his abusive nature and later had to abandon her parents home as well as she allege her father to have molested her.

Eight people who have been arrested has been sent to police custody by court for five days.

Beed girl raped by 400 men:

Eight people have been arrested for raping a 16 year old girl in Beed district of Maharashtra. The eight people include lodge owner, police constable, retired nayabdar and a home guard. All the eight people were arrested on Wednesday and produced before the court on Thursday. The police said they have arrested 23 people till now.

The girl was married at a very tender age of 13. (As per the amendment of the Child Marriage Restraint Act, 1929 in 1978, the minimum age for marrying a girl is 18 years in India). She was married to an exploitative man which led her to leave her husband's house. Later, she had to leave her own house as well, as she claims her father molested her there.

From there, she chose to stay in a lodge at Ambejogai bus stand, where she says to have been raoed by over 400 men.

The police has registered case of rape, molestation, gang rape and POCSO violations against the accused.

The eight people arrested in the case have been sent to five day of police custody by the court in Ambejogai.

The Saki Naka rape incident, where a 32 year woman was brutally raped in a stationary tempo raised questions on the security of women in the state, which ranks fourth in higher number of rape cases in country. Maharashtra also ranks 10th in crime rate in cases of atrocities against woman.
