Baba Ka Dhaba Owner Kanta Prasad attempts suicide: The octogenarian owner of Internet sensation Baba Ka Dhaba Kanta Prasad was admitted to Safdarjung Hospital on June 17 night. Prasad reportedly attempted to end his own life. Prasad had recently gone back to running his old eatery after his restaurant business failed to take off. His wife Badaami Devi says he was stressed about their financial situation.

Kanta Prasad's wife Badaami Devi told ANI, "I don't know anything, I don't know what did he eat. I had not seen. He fell unconscious, I was sitting at the dhaba. I brought him here. Doctor has not told us anything so far. I don't know what was going on in his mind.
Delhi Police is currently probing the incident and has recorded the statement of Prasad's son for the same.

- The video was shared by Sonam Kapoor, cricketer Ashvin Ravi, Karan Wahi and Harsh Beniwal. AAP MLA Somnath Bharti even visited the eatery to extend his support to the elderly couple.
- While donations poured in for Baba Ka Dhaba, the influx of money also generated conflicts and controversy. In 31 October 2020, Kanta Prasad filed a compaint against Wasan for allegedly misappropriating funds collected in his name.
- Earlier this month, reports emerged that Prasad and his wife had suffered heavy losses in a new restaurant that they had opened. Prasad said that he and his wife would go back to running their Malviya Nagar based street-side eatery which had "good" customer footfall.
- According to reports, Kanta Prasad had incurred a huge debt while trying to run his new restaurant in Delhi, in which he had invested five lakh rupees. The couple was earning rupees 30,000 monthly from their new restaurant, but had to pay rupees one lakh every month in rent.
- Reports say Kanta Prasad was worried about repaying the debt he had incurred.
- Prasad allegedly overdosed on sleeping pills along with alcohol owing to the financial stress.
