Muslim Women Must Approach Family Court For Divorce

The Madras High Court ruled that a Muslim woman can exercise her right to dissolve a marriage by 'Khula' (divorce proceedings initiated by the wife) by approaching a family court and not private bodies, such as a Shariat Council.

The court held that private bodies cannot pronounce or certify the dissolution of marriage by Khula.

Mother And Daughter Die After Truck Overturns And Crushes Their Vehicle

A 46-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter were crushed to death after a concrete mixer truck overturned and fell on their car. The driver of the truck fled the spot and is absconding.

The woman, Gayathri Kumar had gone to drop her daughter Samantha at school when the concrete mixer truck lost control and overturned on top of their car. The truck was travelling at a high speed, which led to the accident.

Australia will be replacing the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II from the currency note for 5 Australian dollars. The new design will reflect and honour the history of its Indigenous culture.

Singapore Man Sues Women For 24 Crore For "Friend Zoning" Him

A man from Singapore sued a woman for not reciprocating his romantic feelings. The man, K Kawshigan is seeking 3 million dollars (24 crore rupees) in damages from Nora Tan for "emotional trauma" after he realised she only saw him as a friend.

Kawshigan wanted to sue her for emotional trauma and put off taking legal action after Tan agreed to attend counselling sessions with him.

Tan told the man she felt "genuine discomfort" and Kawshigan told her that she would either comply or suffer "irrevocable" damage to her personal and professional life.
