In the audio, the woman named Sunisha is heard talking to her brother. She said, “If you can, please come now itself. Come towards the road. I am ready to come, I was thrashed by him and his mother. I am not sure if I will be alive tonight.”

Her death was initially called a suicide case but it is only now revealed that the woman was allegedly facing violence from her in-laws. Her family members have also alleged that even after filing multiple complaints, the police did not take action in her case.

Sunisha reportedly got married to her husband, Vijeesh of Payyanur one and half years ago. Her family member told Asianet that Vijeesh used to beat Sunisha brutally and that her mother-in-law and father-in-law were violent towards her. The relative said, "She used to say that he (husband) used to beat her black and blue, that his mother pulls her hair and beats her and that his father has even beaten her with a helmet. For calling us and telling us this, they seized her phone and broke it. For the past one month she was not even having food from the house. She used to take parcels (from shops)."

Her brother, Sudheesh told the publication that the family had approached Payyannur police station for help since Sunisha was calling home multiple times asking them to take her back. Sunisha's brother claimed that he was asked to go alone to her in-laws house as the family had influence with a political party so he asked the police for help. He alleged that the police used to talk to Sunisha's in-laws and told Sudheesh that she will come home next day or the day after but she never came.

" Towards the end, she used to say that she will somehow manage to stay there. After that she did not call, " he said.

According to the family members, the complaint was filed by them at the police station on August 5. The deceased woman's brother alleged that her in-laws and husband had confined her in the house.

In an audio recording, Sunisha's husband is heard allegedly pulling her hair. Sunisha then tells him that she will record visuals of the assault but he seems unbothered by the threat. As per the reported details, Sunisha also says in the audio, " I will also record your mother pulling my hair." As per the recording, Vijeesh's father also abused Sunisha.
