According to Chandra Shekhar Singh, a police officer in Lucknow, Soni had contacted that survivor through social media where he promised her a project with a production house. He called the woman to a hotel room for the auditions for a video album and then allegedly raped her.

The woman, who is an aspiring model, alleged that Soni kept her captive in his room, assaulted her and threatened her against revealing any of it to the police. She said that the accused left the hotel after she called her friends. The woman also alleged that one of her friends was also raped in the same way sometime a week ago. She said that her friend did not file a report to the police.
