Here's How Twitter Reacted To Congress Candidate Archana Gautam's Pictures

As the Indian National Congress (INC) announced the candidature of Archana Gautam, the picture of the politician in a bikini started going viral. She has now urged her followers and other people not to merge her showbiz and political careers.

She even took to her social media site and wrote: "Those who are circulating my bikini-clad pictures have exposed their mindset. I am proud of what I do"

The backlash that the woman candidate that the actor-model Gautam is receiving for her dance videos and bikini pictures has come in many forms. While many people think it is beyond one's right to judge somebody on their acting or modeling career, others have begun moral policing about what candidate a party needs to pitch in.

If people on the Internet are to be believed, there is "no scope" for women artists to win beauty pageants and post bikini pictures in politics. The use of words like "vulgar", "aise logo ko politics mai lana" shows the misogynistic and sad mindset of people around.

Archana Gautam has been part of various Bollywood movies like Great Grand Masti, Haseena Parker, Baaraat Company, Junction Varanasi and has been part of many Tamil ventures as well. Considering how many female actors have joined politics in the past, the judgement received by Gautam is incomprehensible.

Be it troll directed towards Hema Malini or Jaya Bachchan or wearing a "western" dress by Parliamentarian Nusrat Jahan, female actor-politicians have often been criticised.
