Anju Seth The Head Of IIM Calcutta Resigns A Year Before Her Term End

Anju Seth, the head of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIM-C) announced her resignation after a confrontation with one of the teaching faculty. Her resignation comes one year before the end of her tenure.

Seth sent her letter of resignation to the Union Ministry of Education. "Yes, I have sent in my resignation letter on Sunday. I am not well right now. I'm disappointed as I'm leaving a dream only partially fulfilled; it is not what I had sought," she said after being asked about her decision.

Seth had taken a medical leave for two days before going forward with her resignation.

Anju Seth became the director of the prestigious management institute in 2018. It is said that a few teachers had complained about her conduct to the Union Ministry of Education. Seth alleged the faculty were trying to 'curb her powers' as the director of the institute. "A majority of the faculty had turned against her accusing her of high-handedness and she also lost the confidence of many board," said a source to PTI.

Anju Seth stated in her letter that she was proud of being a part of the institute and that she hoped for the best for the institute. "I'm proud that I tried my best and that I have disrupted the conventional barriers that were holding back the opportunity for IIM-Calcutta to emerge as a world-class institution," she said.

Hoping that in the future the institute will "continue to build on a culture of transparency and accountability as core values," Seth added "I have been privileged to work with many dedicated and talented people and wish them the very best for the future."

Finally, she ended her letter by saying that she didn't want to nurture any bitter moments she faced during her tenure. She also said that she will continue feeling proud of the institute's alumnus.

Earlier, Anju Seth was the Professor of Management at Virginia Tech, US and also held the position of Professor of Business Administration at the University of Illinois.
