Ambreen Bhat, who is a television actor from Jammu and Kashmir was shot dead on Wednesday in a suspected militant attack, while her nephew has been injured by a bullet and is receiving medical help. The incident occurred yesterday in the Chadoora town of Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district.
Bhat is a popular television actor. She and her ten years old nephew Farhan Zubair were fired at outside their home in the Hishroo area of Chadoora. According to police, the nephew is now undergoing treatment for the bullet wound in his arm, and his condition is now stable.
News Agency GNS reported that Bhat was the daughter of Khazar Bhat, who is a resident of Kongoipora-Hushroo. According to the police, the two of them were immediately shifted to a hospital and Bhat’s condition was critical. It was the Medical Superintendent of the SMHS hospital Dr Kanwal Jeet Singh who said that Bhat was declared dead on arrival at the hospital.

With regards to the case, Greater Kashmir reported an unnamed official saying that the area has been cordoned in order to nab the attackers. In a statement by the police spokesman, they said that three terrorists were allegedly involved in the attack and that they belonged to the terror outfit LeT. The statement further stated that an investigation is going on and a case has been registered under relevant sections.
The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah tweeted about the incident and wrote, “Shocked and deeply saddened by the murderous militant attack on Ambreen Bhat. Sadly Ambreen lost her life in the attack & her nephew was injured. There can be no justification for attacking innocent women & children like this. May Allah grant her place in Jannat.”
He added, “Her nephew is a young 10-year-old boy. Yesterday it was a police constable’s daughter injured in an attack & today this young 10-year-old child. How does anyone justify these attacks?”
Not only was Bhat a television actor, but she was also a singer, who often uploaded her songs on various social media platforms.
