The Taliban recently claimed that Afghanistan girls and women have not been permanently banned from universities and schools but that their education has been "postponed".

The higher education ministry ordered an indefinite ban on university education for women, drawing international condemnation.

The Taliban also banned girls from attending middle school and high school and restricted women from most employment.

The minister of higher education in the Taliban government Nida Mohammad Nadin defended the ban on women's education and stated it would prevent the mixing of genders in universities. Nadin added that foreigners should stop interfering in Afghanistan's internal affairs.

The Taliban's Ministry of Education will now allow girls from sixth grade and below to continue their education in schools. The ministry issued a letter asking officials to open schools and educational centres for girls from grades 1 to 6.

The Taliban recently claimed that Afghanistan girls' and women's education has been "postponed", not permanently banned.

Taliban spokesperson, Suhail Shaheen said, "I would like to make it clear that it is not a permanent ban on women's education, it has been postponed until a conducive environment is created for their education".

He added that the Taliban leaders were not "against women's education", and wanted women to received education "in an environment compliant with our values as rules".

Afghanistan women were also banned from travelling without a male relative and banned from parks and gyms.

As per reports, the Directorate of Public Affairs and Hearing of Taliban Complaints announced a new diktat that women are no longer allowed to visit male doctors.

According to an exclusive report by the news outlet World Is One News (WION), the Taliban's new ruling banned male doctors from treating female patients and directed every hospital to keep a check on it.
